Mom 1..........Bully 0!!!!

I decided to share this next story via video

I would love to hear any thoughts on how best to deal with this situation, maybe your child has gone through something like this or perhaps you are a teacher or you have some insight on what I should do.

Oh on a side note the dresser behind me is a sneak peak at my newly decorated room :)

Love and Thanks

That's SO funny! I feel for Alexis though! I would leave it alone and hope that you scared the girl enough to end the bullying. If it gets too bad, then go talk to her parents. Hope it all gets better.

BTW...nice dresser

Hey Marilyn,
I've had students go through these situations while I've been their teacher. Luckily - it sounds to me like these girls are only using words - but that is a girl's worst weapon.
From experience - I've found that it's a good idea for the bully's parent to know what's going on. I would be surprised if they have any idea, especially if these girls were friends before. Maybe a heart to heart between the two girls (outside of school) will be fueled by a talk between parents?
I don't know if that will make things worse - that is up to you. If I were you, though, I would talk to mom or dad. We would hate for things to get out of hand by that girl telling her parents that you are "chasing her home from school" (LOL)
Hope this helps. Keep us updated.:) For now - that daughter of yours has an incredible testimony that will take her far and help her know what friends to keep and which to recycle.

That is funny and sad at the same time. It really makes me mad to hear those girls say that to Alexis. I'm so worried about how I will handle it when Ryan is old enough for bullies.

That is hilarious! Poor girl is probably scared to death! I doubt she'll bug Lexi anymore though! Lol!

I think you are always best served when dealing with kids at this age to ask for a meeting with parent child and depending on the parent have the school involved. You could get your self into trouble if you try to approch the child alone. You would hate to have the child accuse you of any wrong doing. If it were me I would have Alexis there too so she can be apart of the solution. Kids are rough but they are just kids. Alexis is a sweetheart and I hate that she is having a hard time with girls at school :(

I like hearing stories via video! Good job to you (funny too!) and I hope you can figure out a way to make it better- what a hard situation for both of you to be in.

Well, it sounds like to me that this girl is obviously deep down inside a big fat coward. She got self esteem issues and that's probably why she's bullying. I"ll bet she's jealous of your daughter using crutches, maybe because of the attention she gets. It sounds like a lot of jealousy is stuck inside this girl and I'll bet what just happened will help the situation. The girl should be ashamed of her behavior and what you did, attempting to talk to her, is exactly what i would have done. That girl needs to know there will be consequences for her bullying actions!! Go Madea on her!! Tell the bully next time you see her "You know...I only go to church for two reasons, weddings and funerals, which one we gonna have today?"

I think you should go to the school or talk to the parents. I will guess the parents have no idea or have heard alter versions of the same story.

That is such a great story - Lexi is lucky she has you looking out for her! No good advide here though, my kids haven't hit the age of being bullied quite yet I guess.

Hi Marilyn,
You don't know me but I've been following your blog for awhile now. Found you by accident. Anyway, I love that story! It made me giggle. My kids were bullied on the school bus a few years ago and like you, we waited. Told the kids to ignore it, but eventually we had to go to the school. They put a stop to it immediately. The next day the girl gets on the bus and stands in the aisle and declares "Alright. Who told?!?!" Olivia (my daughter) says "My mom did, and she said next time she's coming after you!!!" That shut her up! HEHE. Still makes me giggle when I think about it! Thanks for sharing.

Okay first off, you probably made the poor girl wet her pants! I know I would have...i'm just sayin' but on a more serious note I think lexi should just wack the girl with her crutches on side her little bully head and see if it happens again. (i am sure I will get mother of the year award when my kids reach that age) Love ya and it is so good to hear your voice, keep up posted on the score, I am sure you have already won the fight.
