"I'm A Loser Baby, So Why Don't Cha Kill Me!"

So perhaps I am not totally a loser but gosh darn close! I hate that I haven't had my computer for so long! I have had things to blog and wanted to check all of yours but before the move I was getting ready to move and during the move, well, I was moving and now that I have sorta moved (i.e staying with the in-laws until we move into our house)I haven't had my computer, as in no pictures! I decided I better post something so all would know I am still alive, so I am using my brother-in-laws computer for the moment. I am working on a post to tell of our adventures in driving to Colorado so that will come, for now I will talk about all the things I am missing!

My Parents & Sister
My Friends
My Computer
My Sewing Machine
My Bed (this one for many months now)
My Non-English speaking friends at Target and neighborhood parks!

Ok so it can't be all bad I guess, I mean who would I be if I only looked on the down side????

The things I am loving!!

Being with my Husband!
The Amazing Green stuff that grows out here!!
The fabulous finds at yard sales around the corner!! (Oh yes I will be blogging about this)
The fact that I live where the Broncos roam, I can't wait to see a game!!!
The ability to take my kids to my enchanted child hood of Steamboat Springs, CO!
Did I mention being with my husband, oh how I missed him!!
All the Great places I have found to take pictures, now I just need people!

I must say that in the last few days I have felt pretty sad about not getting to see all the people I was hoping to see before I left. I know I will be back but it still tugs at my heart a bit! Know that I am thinking of all of you and miss you terribly and please come visit, as soon as we are in our own place that is!! :) Love to you

38 Years!! Holy Crap That Is A Long Time!!

Today is my folks 38th Anniversary!! They are really like a modern Romeo & Juliet, my Dad frequently stands outside their window and reads poetry or plays the guitar while singing (wink wink)!! Ok so maybe it's not quite like that but in so many ways their marriage is much better than any fictional characters. I actually love to hear my Mom talk about how they met, He called her best friend Kay and asked her out on a date, but Kay was married so she gave him my Mom's number and told him to ask her. He obviously called and after dating for a while my Mom told him either marry me or hit the road buster, so they were married July 3, 1971 in Denver, Colorado. My Dad was not a member of the church at the time but he was baptized in 1981, they have lived through 14 moves in 3 states, 5 kids (barely, sorry bout that), 7 almost 8 Grandkids, 8 dogs, countless cats, a hamster or two, four weddings, an elopement, a divorce (again sorry bout that), and they are still breathing!! That is quite the accomplishment if you ask me!! Something I love about their relationship is that they have always worked on staying close, they make little trips together, my Dad sends my Mom flowers, they go on dates and they are genuinely good friends. That has to be a huge part of making a marriage last and make it a happy one at that! I love you both and Congrats on today and may there be many more to come!!

This picture is only missing James (well he was in my tummy here) and the baby that Alyssa and Chet are expecting in August!!

Body Language!

As a women I am entitled to certain privileges, one is that my body speaks to me. It says many things, sometimes in many languages, things like "usted es gordito" (spanish for you are chubby), or "regarde votre visage funny"(French for your face looks funny). Often they are disparaging and mean spirited but in my old age I have grown to more easily ignore those and try to focus on the times my body speaks kindly to me, instances when it says "Non troppo malandato" (Italian for Not too shabby). I think that many women, if not most can look in the mirror and find the flaws that to the "untrained eye" (men) are not there. I for one look in the mirror and am grateful for the days my contacts aren't in, it makes my face look much nicer!!

Well for as many things that I would like to have altered, i.e saggy, baggy, wrinkly, wiggly, jiggly, there has been one constant, there is one area of my body that has been there for me through thick and thin, it has supported me and kept me going even if it were baby steps. It is the one area of my body that no matter what, I don't mind looking at, even without clothes on!! So here's to you oh faithful body part for sticking with me and lifting me when I am down, may you continue to be slender, bunion free with high arches!

What body part of yours makes you happy no matter what??

Flashback Friday! Memories

With the move getting closer (as in 2weeks) I have been thinking back on the 24 years I have spent in Las Vegas. I have been looking through old family scrapbooks when I came across this photo of my siblings and I on our first day of school here in Vegas. I was starting 1st grade, Alyssa 3rd and Janna 5th at Lewis E. Rowe Elementary, Jack had just turned 1. We had just moved to this "big" city from a very small town and I remember being so nervous, well here I am leaving for the first time since and again I have those butterflies when I think about starting over. I am excited for the new people I will meet and the adventure of moving away but a little sick to my stomach at the same time. In so many ways the times has flown by, I can't believe I am 30, married with 3 kids, was it supposed to go that fast? When I was little it seemed like everything went soo slow, I couldn't wait to be "big" and now I am and I wonder what the rush was!!

In 24 years you meet a lot of people and make a lot more memories, the streets of my old neighborhood are lined with them, the 7-11 on Flamingo and Sandhill that we would walk to for Slurpee's, the Smith's grocery store that we bought our toilet paper for "decorating houses" with, the schools I attended or rather spent time "away" from when I had "better places" to be. I am so glad for my brain, for the fact that it has retained all the information for me so I can take all of it with me, all I will have to do is close my eyes and the images of sitting at my best friends cheer competitions or singing in Nicky's (another friend) truck listening to Tracy Chapman, will all come back to me. It won't be the same as being within a short drive to their houses for craft night, or a trip to Joann's and then sandwiches at Great Harvest Bread, but it will have to do.

That's why all of you will be on rotation for visits to see me, we plan on having a bed made and ready for visitors, and a basement to keep them in!! :) I know this was a long flashback but I've been here a long time!

Take A Few Minutes

This women survived an abortion, she wasn't having one, she was the child that they tried to abort. I received these videos in an email and after listening to her how can I sit and not do anything with her message! She speaks eloquently and her words are impacting and true. It takes just a few minutes and I promise it is worth your time.
